Seminole Road Landfill 3.2 MW LFGTE Green Energy Facility
DeKalb County, Georgia

DeKalb Sanitation developed and financed this 3.2 MW gas to electric project, located in Metropolitan Atlanta. County staff, working with elected officials was able to bid on and be awarded the first Georgia Power Municipal Utility Company’s Green Energy Electrical Production Program contract. This facility was commissioned on October 12, 2006. The Facility has produced more than 43,200 megawatts of electricity and generated more than $ 2.1 million dollars of revenue for the Sanitation Enterprise Fund. The facility is operated under contract by SCS Engineers and has met all requirements and obligations of Georgia Power and the State.

Renewable Solutions/Oak Grove Facility

The Republic Services Oak Grove Landfill is located in the City ofWinder, Georgia. The landfill gas (LFG) flow is currently about 3,500 scfm and is projected to reach over 5,000 scfm in a few years. The best option for the LFG is the injection of high Btu pipeline quality gas (manufactured gas) into the nearby City ofWinder Gas System. A five-mile pipeline was built to connect Oak Grove to the nearby City of Buford Gas System. This supported maximum gas delivery toWinder, and also increased overall supply reliability for both Buford andWinder through development of an alternative supply to theWilliams pipeline.
