Solar Turbines Kearny Mesa Facility

At this facility, gas turbines are assembled, tested, and mounted on skidded packages with generators for shipment around the world. 70% of the equipment manufactured in this facility is shipped overseas, making Solar Turbines one of California's largest exporters.

Miramar Landfill

Miramar is the first municipality-operated landfill in the nation to earn ISO 14001 certification. The landfill accepts more than 1.4 million tons of waste every year and has two operating landfill gas utilization facilities. The landfill gas utilization project collects LFG from four noncontiguous filling areas. The LFG system consists of more than 275 recovery wells, two blower flare stations (three flares total), five blowers, 50 sumps, and more than 35,000 feet of above ground and below ground high density polyethylene piping. Combined, the two LFG utilization facilities can produce 9 MW of electricity.
